A 500 Year Coffee

How long does it take you to finish drinking a cup of coffee? Five, ten, maybe twenty minutes?

While the caffeine and the energy it gives is fleeting, the styrofoam cup it comes in is not.

If you did nothing but drink coffee for the next 500 years, you would need to go through about 18 million cups before the first one finishes decomposing.

Why is that important? Well, 500 years is a long time, at least 7 human lifetimes, and YOU as an individual only get to live one of them.

This projected lifetime of a styrofoam cup is incomprehensible to most individuals. You’ll be spending that time in the game watching the world around you change while the cup outlives everything around it.
